LXFP-256 Silicone Foam Gasket: Preserve Sealing Contact After Long Compression

When an enclosure must retain sealing contact after prolonged fastening, evaluate the LXFP-256 silicone foam gasket by compression set, hardness and thickness together. The HD50 grade lists compression set at no more than 5% after 24 hours at 100°C. This value supports comparisons made under identical test conditions; the actual joint still requires confirmation of surface geometry, deflection and service temperature.

Retain recovery allowance after prolonged compression

A gasket remains compressed after an enclosure is fastened. Greater permanent deformation leaves less recovery allowance for small joint movement and tolerance variation. The LXFP-256 liquid silicone foam sheet and sealing gasket lists compression set of no more than 5% for HD50 under 100°C for 24 hours, providing a concrete basis for comparing materials used in static sealing.

Choose support and conformability with two hardness options

LXFP-256-HD50 suits structures that need higher support. Its listed hardness is 50±5 Shore C and its standard thickness is 2±0.2 mm. LXFP256-SD25 suits applications needing greater compressibility and a wider thickness range; its listed hardness is 25±5 Shore C with thicknesses from 0.6 to 12.7 mm. Selection must also account for the actual gap, fastening method and permitted deflection.

Convert sheet stock into enclosure-specific gasket profiles

The product is available as rolls in different thicknesses and can be precision processed to specified dimensions. This lets designers convert sheet stock into sealing profiles for battery packs or electronic equipment housings. The official page lists EV battery pack sealing, vibration damping and component protection among its applications. Corners, openings, joint width and compressed clearance still require confirmation against the real drawing.

Read the compression-set result with its equation

For constant deflection, C = (h0 - h2) / (h0 - h1) × 100%. C is compression set; h0 is original specimen thickness, h1 is constrained thickness during compression, and h2 is thickness after release and the specified recovery period, with thicknesses in mm. The Parker O-Ring Handbook compression-set section explains that specimen geometry, deflection, temperature, time and medium affect results. ASTM D395 covers compressed rubber and is particularly relevant to static-stress service. Results from different conditions are not directly comparable and do not by themselves predict service life.

Send joint conditions with a sample request

Useful selection inputs include nominal gap, tolerance, target deflection, service temperature, compression duration, medium and the required cut profile. Compare HD50 and SD25 according to the needed support and thickness accommodation, then verify recovery and sealing with samples under the real fastening condition. Review the official LXFP-256 product page and contact Lixing for dimension-specific information.
